Treatment of mild to moderately severe infections caused by penicillin sensitive staphylococci, pneumococci, gonococci and haemolytic streptococci infections. Therapy should be guided by bacteriological studies, including sensitivity tests, and by clinical response.

For prophylactic use in recurrent streptococcal infections including the prevention of recurrence following rheumatic fever and/or Sydenham’s chorea and to prevent bacterial endocarditis in patients with rheumatic fever and/or congenital heart disease who are about to undergo dental or upper respiratory surgery or instrumentation.

Note: Oral penicillin should not be used as adjunctive prophylaxis for genitourinary instrumentation or surgery, lower intestinal tract surgery, sigmoidoscopy or childbirth.

Pain

Aclor is indicated for the treatment of the following types of infections caused by or likely to be caused by susceptible organisms:

• Lower respiratory infections, including pneumonia, bronchitis and exacerbations of chronic bronchitis.
• Upper respiratory infections, including pharyngitis, tonsillitis and otitis media. Skin and skin structure infections.
• Urinary tract infections, including pyelonephritis and cystitis.

Treatment of type 2 diabetes mellitus inadequately controlled by diet and exercise:

• as monotherapy;
• as dual therapy to improve glycaemic control
• - in combination with metformin or sulfonylurea
• - in combination with insulin;
• as triple therapy to improve glycaemic control, in combination with metformin and sulfonylurea.

Treatment of hypertension. It may be used alone or in combination with thiazide diuretics. Sufficient data have not been provided to support the use of quinapril in renovascular hypertension.

Congestive heart failure. Adjunctive treatment of mild to moderate congestive heart failure when given concomitantly with a diuretic and/or cardiac glycoside.

Relief of unproductive, dry and intractable coughs associated with colds and flu.

Actiq is indicated for the management of breakthrough cancer pain in patients with malignancies who are already receiving and are tolerant to opioid therapy for their underlying persistent cancer pain.

Treatment of hypertension. Prophylaxis of chronic stable angina pectoris.

Moderate asthmatic attacks; chronic forms of asthma; asthma in patients with diminished cardiac reserve; chronic obstructive bronchitis with bronchospasm; bronchospasm during or after surgery, use during assisted ventilation with a respirator.

AGGRASTAT, in combination with heparin, is indicated for patients with unstable angina or non-Q-wave myocardial infarction to prevent cardiac ischaemic events.

Hypertension (mild, moderate to severe).

Treatment of osteoporosis, including glucocorticoid induced osteoporosis. Osteoporosis must be confirmed by the finding of low bone mass of at least two standard deviations below the gender specific mean for young adults, or by the presence of osteoporotic fracture. Paget's disease of bone.

Treatment of patients with multiple myeloma for whom oral therapy is not appropriate.

Palliative treatment of multiple myeloma and advanced ovarian adenocarcinoma.

Treatment of major depression

Main clinical manifestations of urate/uric acid deposition. These are gouty arthritis, skin tophi and/or renal involvement through crystal deposition or stone formation. Such clinical manifestations may occur in: idiopathic gout; uric acid lithiasis; acute uric acid nephropathy; neoplastic disease and myeloproliferative disease with high cell turnover rates, in which high urate levels occur either spontaneously or after cytotoxic therapy, certain enzyme disorders which lead to overproduction of urate and involve:

• • hypoxanthine guanine phosphoribosyltransferase including Lesch-Nyhan syndrome,
• • glucose 6-phosphatase including glycogen storage disease,
• • phosphoribosylpyrophosphate synthetase,
• • phosphoribosylpyrophosphate amidotransferase.

Management of recurrent mixed calcium oxalate renal stones in the presence of hyperuricosuria, when fluid, dietary and similar measures have failed.

Anxiety: the short-term symptomatic treatment of anxiety including treatment of anxious patients with some symptoms of depression; Panic Disorder: the treatment of panic disorder with or without some phobic avoidance, and for blocking or attenuation of panic attacks and phobias in patients who have agoraphobia with panic attacks.

Hypertension. First line treatment of mild to moderate essential hypertension. It can be used as the sole agent to control blood pressure in the majority of patients. Patients not adequately controlled on a single antihypertensive agent may benefit from the addition of amlodipine, which has been used in combination with a thiazide diuretic, beta-adrenoreceptor blocking agent, or an angiotensin converting enzyme inhibitor.

Angina. First line treatment of chronic stable angina. Amlodipine may be used alone, as monotherapy, or in combination with other antianginal drugs.

Treatment of infections due to susceptible strains of Gram-positive and Gram-negative organisms

• • Major depression.
• • Obsessive-compulsive disorders and phobias in adults.
• • Cataplexy associated with narcolepsy.

For the symptomatic relief of headache, nausea and vomiting associated with migraine.

Relief of severe pain (medical and surgical) where non-narcotic analgesics and other measures do not provide satisfactory relief. Except in patients with terminal conditions, use of Anamorph should be restricted to short-term administration.

Early breast cancer Adjuvant treatment of early breast cancer in postmenopausal women with oestrogen/progesterone-receptor-positive disease. Advanced breast cancer First line treatment of advanced breast cancer in postmenopausal women with oestrogen/progesterone-receptor-positive disease.

ANDEPRA is indicated for the treatment of major depressive disorder (MDD). ANDEPRA is indicated for the treatment of diabetic peripheral neuropathic pain (DPNP). ANDEPRA is indicated for the treatment of generalised anxiety disorder (GAD).

For the relief of heartburn and indigestion

Treatment of acute angina pectoris.

As well as relieving pain of an acute attack, it may be used prophylactically before physical exertion or mental stress which would be expected to produce an anginal attack.

ANTABUSE Tablets are indicated to act as a deterrent to alcohol consumption and an aid in the overall management of selected chronic alcoholic patients involved in an integrated programme of counselling and psychiatry. Only alcoholic patients who are motivated to abstain from drinking and who are undergoing supportive psychotherapeutic treatment, ancillary to a total programme of rehabilitation, should be selected for ANTABUSE administration.

• Orally for treatment of cryptococcal meningitis in patients who are unable to tolerate amphotericin B. Note. Data suggest that the clinical efficacy of fluconazole is lower than that of amphotericin B in the treatment of the acute phase of cryptococcal meningitis. • Maintenance therapy to prevent relapse of cryptococcal meningitis in patients with acquired immune deficiency syndrome (AIDS). • Treatment of oropharyngeal and oesophageal candidiasis in AIDS and other immunosuppressed patients. • Secondary prophylaxis of oropharyngeal candidiasis in patients with human immunodeficiency virus (HIV) infection. • Serious and life-threatening Candida infections in patients who are unable to tolerate amphotericin B. Note. It remains to be shown that fluconazole is as effective as amphotericin B in the treatment of serious and life-threatening Candida infections. Until such data are available, amphotericin B remains the drug of choice. • Vaginal candidiasis, when topical therapy has failed. • Treatment of extensive tinea corporis, extensive tinea cruris and extensive tinea pedis infections in immunocompetent patients in whom topical therapy is not a practical treatment option. Usually, topical therapy should be attempted first because oral therapy has a less favourable ratio of benefits to risks

To be used as an adjunct to diet, exercise and weight loss, in lowering blood glucose in patients with non-insulin dependent (Type 2) diabetes mellitus.

Indicated for moderate asthmatic attacks; chronic forms of asthma; asthma in patients with diminished cardiac reserve; chronic obstructive bronchitis with bronchospasm; bronchospasm during or after surgery, use during assisted ventilation with a respirator.

Treatment of hypertension. Prophylaxis of chronic stable angina pectoris

Ondansetron is indicated for the prevention and treatment of nausea and vomiting induced by cytotoxic therapy and radiotherapy.

Apo-Paracetamol/Codeine 500/30 is indicated for the relief of moderate to severe pain which does not respond to milder analgesics.

Treatment of primary restless legs syndrome, including the reduction of associated periodic limb movement and episodes of nocturnal arousal.

Donepezil hydrochloride is indicated for the treatment of mild, moderate and severe Alzheimer's disease.

Treatment of the following dermatoses: atopic dermatitis, eczematous dermatitis, nummular eczema, contact dermatitis, anal and vulval pruritus, otitis externa, seborrhoeic dermatitis, eczematised psoriasis, neurodermatitis.

AROPAX is indicated for the treatment of: major depression and for the prevention of relapse of depressive symptoms; Obsessive Compulsive Disorder and for the prevention of relapse of OCD; Panic Disorder and for the prevention of relapse of Panic Disorder; Social Anxiety Disorder/Social Phobia; Generalised Anxiety Disorder; and Post-traumatic Stress Disorder

As an adjunct in the therapy of all forms of Parkinsonism (postencephalitis, arteriosclerotic and idiopathic). It is useful in the prevention or control of extrapyramidal disorders due to CNS drugs such as phenothiazines.

Treatment of scabies and body pediculosis.

For the temporary relief of pain and discomfort associated with migraine headache, earache, period pain, rheumatic pain. Reduces fever and inflammation.

For the rapid conversion to a normal sinus rhythm of paroxysmal supraventricular tachycardias, including those associated with accessory bypass tracts (Wolff-Parkinson-White syndrome).
