HYPERTENSION : CAPOTEN (captopril) is indicated for the treatment of hypertension. In using CAPOTEN, consideration should be given to the risk of neutropenia/agranulocytosis. CAPOTEN is effective alone and in combination with other antihypertensive agents, especially thiazide-type diuretics. The blood pressure lowering effects of captopril and thiazides are approximately additive. MYOCARDIAL INFARCTION : CAPOTEN is indicated to improve survival following myocardial infarction in clinically stable patients with left ventricular dysfunction, manifested as an ejection fraction less than or equal to 40% and to reduce the incidence of overt heart failure, and subsequent hospitalisations for congestive heart failure in these patients. The efficacy data for the use of CAPOTEN following myocardial infarction are strongest for initiation of therapy beyond 3 days post-infarct. HEART FAILURE : CAPOTEN (captopril) is indicated for the treatment of heart failure. In symptomatic patients it is recommended that CAPOTEN be administered together with a diuretic. DIABETIC NEPHROPATHY : CAPOTEN is indicated for the treatment of diabetic nephropathy in patients with Type 1 insulin-dependent diabetes mellitus.

Cilamox is indicated for the treatment of infections due to susceptible strains of the sensitive organisms: Gram-negative: H. influenzae, E. coli, Pr. mirabilis, and N. gonorrhoeae. Gram-positive: Streptococcus species, S. pneumoniae, non-penicillinase producing Staphylococci and Bacillus anthracis. Note 1: Cilamox may be useful in instituting therapy prior to bacteriology; however, bacteriological studies to determine the causative organisms and their sensitivity to Cilamox should be performed. Note 2: Penicillins are now generally regarded only as adjunctive to some other established first-line antibiotic therapy in the treatment and post-exposure prophylaxis of anthrax, because of concerns of constitutive and inducible beta-lactamase in Bacillus anthracis. If use of amoxycillin is contemplated, appropriate bacteriological studies must be performed by a reliable and established test method. Amoxycillin may then be suitable if the specific B. anthracis strain has been shown definitively to be sensitive to penicillin/amoxycillin.

Cyproterone acetate inhibits the influence of male sex hormones, which are also produced by the female. It is thus possible to treat diseases in women caused either by increased production of androgens or a particular sensitivity to these hormones. Hirsutism and alopecia may be expected to recur over a period of time after cessation of treatment. If CYPROCUR 50 is taken during pregnancy, the properties of the preparation may lead to signs of feminisation in the male foetus. Therefore, in women of child bearing potential, pregnancy must be excluded at the commencement of treatment and ethinyl oestradiol taken as well to ensure contraception. This also promotes regular menstruation. MEN
CYPROCUR 50 reduces the force of the sexual urge in men with sexual deviations. Whilst under treatment, the man can control himself better in a predisposing stimulatory situation, but there is no influence on any deviating direction of sexual drive. Abnormal patterns of sexual behaviour require treatment when they are distressing to the patient. A prerequisite for therapy is the desire by the patient for treatment. CYPROCUR 50 therapy should be supplemented by psychotherapeutic and sociotherapeutic measures in order to exploit the period of reduced drive for personal and social re-orientation.
