Wherever corticosteroid therapy is indicated such as: pemphigus vulgaris, allergic dermatitis, eczema, exfoliative dermatitis, dermatitis herpetiformis, dermatitis medicamentosa, erythema multiforme; disseminated lupus erythematosus, dermatomyositis, polyarteritis nodosa; severe bronchial asthma and status asthmaticus, emphysema, pulmonary fibrosis; adrenal hyperplasia (adrenogenital syndrome); idiopathic thrombocytopenic purpura, acquired haemolytic anaemia, acute leukaemia; nephrotic syndrome; iridochoroiditis; ulcerative colitis; rheumatoid arthritis; ankylosing spondylitis, rheumatic fever, gout, periarthritis of the shoulder.

Relief of mild to moderate pain.

For adjunctive treatment of: oedema due to congestive heart failure; drug-induced oedema; centrencephalic epilepsies (petit mal, unlocalized seizures); chronic simple (open-angle) glaucoma, secondary glaucoma and preoperatively in acute angle-closure glaucoma where delay of surgery is desired in order to lower intraocular pressure.

As an adjunct to diet, exercise and weight loss, to lower the blood glucose in patients with noninsulin dependent type 2 diabetes mellitus.

Dicloxsig is indicated in the treatment of confirmed or suspected staphylococcal and other Gram positive coccal infections, including skin and skin structure and wound infections, infected burns, cellulitis, osteomyelitis and pneumonia. Note: Benzylpenicillin is the drug of choice for the treatment of streptococcal pneumonia. Bacteriological studies should be performed to determine the causative organisms and their susceptibility to dicloxacillin. Dicloxsig should not be used in infections due to organisms susceptible to benzylpenicillin. Important Note: When it is judged necessary that the treatment be initiated before definitive culture and sensitivity results are known, if the microbiology report later indicates the infection is due to an organism other than a benzylpenicillin resistant staphylococcus sensitive to dicloxacillin, the physician is advised to continue therapy with a drug other than dicloxacillin or any other penicillinase resistant penicillin.

Diprosone is indicated for the relief of the inflammatory and pruritic manifestations of corticosteroid-responsive dermatoses. These include atopic eczema, infantile eczema, nummular eczema, contact dermatitis, neurodermatitis, anogenital and senile pruritus, lichen planus, intertrigo and psoriasis. Diprosone Lotion is indicated wherever hair impedes access to the skin in the treatment of corticosteroid-responsive dermatoses particularly on the scalp, chest and underarms, etc. It is also indicated in the treatment of seborrhoea and psoriasis of the scalp.

DIPROSONE OV Cream, Ointment and Lotion are indicated for the relief of the inflammatory and pruritic manifestations of resistant or severe corticosteroid-responsive dermatoses. These include atopic eczema, nummular eczema, contact dermatitis, neurodermatitis, anogenital and senile pruritus, lichen planus and psoriasis. DIPROSONE OV Ointment is also indicated for the maintenance of remission in chronic psoriasis.

DOBUTREX is indicated in adults who require short-term treatment of cardiac failure secondary to acute myocardial infarction, or cardiac surgery.

Treatment of hypertension. Data to support the usage of trandolapril in renovascular hypertension are, at present, not available. Trandolapril is also indicated for patients with left ventricular dysfunction post myocardial infarction (ejection fraction less than or equal to 35% or WMI (wall motion index) less than or equal to 1.2).

For the temporary relief of moderate to severe pain and discomfort associated with: tension headache, toothache, backache, neuralgia, migraine headache, period pain, muscle pain, rheumatic pain and pain associated with trauma or surgery and other pains where a combined calmative & analgesic action is required.

Helps provide temporary relief of moderate to severe pain including tension headache, toothache, backache, neuralgia, migraine headache, period pain, muscle pain, rheumatic pain and pain associated with trauma or surgery. The ‘Night’ tablets also provide a calmative effect, enabling rest.

For the relief of mild to moderate pain.

Dotarem is indicated, in adults and children, for use with magnetic resonance imaging to provide contrast enhancement for intracranial and spinal lesions with abnormal blood brain barrier or abnormal vascularity, and for whole body imaging (see clinical studies).

Infections caused by the following microorganisms: Mycoplasma pneumoniae (primary atypical pneumonia); Rickettsiae (Queensland tick typhus, epidemic typhus fever, Q fever, murine endemic typhus fever, Australo-Pacific endemic scrub typhus): Chlamydia psittaci (psittacosis); Chlamydia trachomatis (lymphogranuloma venereum, trachoma, inclusion conjunctivitis).

(Doxycycline is indicated in the treatment of trachoma, although the infectious agent is not always eliminated, as judged by immunofluorescence. Inclusion conjunctivitis may be treated with oral doxycycline alone, or in combination with topical agents.)

Borreliae (relapsing fever); Calymmatobacterium (Donovania) granulomatis (granuloma inguinale).

Infections caused by the following Gram-negative microorganisms: Vibrio sp. (cholera); Brucella sp. (Brucellosis; in conjunction with streptomycin); Yersinia pestis (plague); Francisella tularensis (tularaemia); Bartonella bacilliformis (Bartonellosis); Bacteroides sp.

When penicillin is contraindicated, doxycycline is an alternative drug in the treatment of infections due to: Treponema pallidum (syphilis); Treponema perenue (yaws); Neisseria gonorrhoea.

Doxycycline is not the drug of choice in the treatment of any type of staphylococcal infection or infections caused by Streptococcus pneumoniae, Haemophilus influenzae, Streptococcus pyogenes, Streptococcus faecalis or any type of enteric bacteria because many strains of these organisms have been shown to be resistant to doxycycline. Doxycycline should not be used in these infections unless the organism has been shown to be sensitive. For upper respiratory infections due to group A ?-haemolytic streptococci (including prophylaxis of rheumatic fever), penicillin is the usual drug of choice.

In acute intestinal amoebiasis doxycycline may be a useful adjunct to amoebicides.

In severe acne doxycycline may be a useful adjunctive therapy.

Doxycycline is indicated, in adults and children older than 10 years, as chemoprophylaxis for malaria caused by Plasmodium falciparum and, in combination with other antimalarial agents, against malaria caused by Plasmodium vivax.

Doxycycline is only able to suppress malaria caused by P. vivax. As there are relatively few locations where P. vivax does not co-exist to some extent with P. falciparum, it is recommended that doxycycline should be used routinely with other agents, for example chloroquine.
