Treatment of major depression.

Palliative treatment of breast cancer.

Treatment in adults of ringworm (tinea corporis, tinea cruris and tinea pedis) due to infection caused by dermatophytes such as Trichophyton (e.g. T. rubrum, T. mentagrophytes, T. verrucosum, T. violaceum), Microsporum canis and Epidermophyton floccosum, where oral therapy is considered appropriate owing to the site, severity or extent of the infection, and the infection is not responsive to topical therapy. Onychomycosis in adults (fungal infection of the nail) caused by dermatophyte fungi.

TAZAC is indicated for up to 8 weeks for the treatment of active duodenal ulcer. In most patients, the ulcer will heal within 4 weeks. TAZAC is also indicated for maintenance therapy for duodenal ulcer patients, at a reduced dosage of 150 mg h.s. after healing of an active duodenal ulcer. Continuous therapy with nizatidine for longer than 1 year has not been studied. TAZAC is indicated for up to 8 weeks for the treatment of benign gastric ulcer. TAZAC is indicated for up to 12 weeks for the treatment of oesophagitis, including erosive and ulcerative oesophagitis and associated heartburn due to reflux.

TAZOPIP for injection is indicated in the treatment of serious bacterial infections caused by susceptible strains of beta-lactamase producing organisms in the conditions listed below: ? Lower respiratory tract infections ? Urinary tract infections (complicated and uncomplicated) ? Intra-abdominal infections ? Skin and skin structure infections ? Bacterial septicaemia ? Gynaecological infections Children under the age of 12 years: In hospitalised children aged 2 to 12 years, TAZOPIP for injection is indicated for the treatment of serious intra-abdominal infections. It has not been evaluated in this indication for paediatric patients below the age of 2 years. While TAZOPIP for injection is indicated only for the conditions listed above, it may be used as a single agent in the treatment of mixed infections caused by piperacillin susceptible and beta-lactamase producing, piperacillin-resistant organisms. Appropriate culture and susceptibility tests should be performed before treatment in order to identify organisms causing infection to determine their susceptibilities to TAZOPIP. Therapy with TAZOPIP for injection may be initiated before results of such tests are known when there is reason to believe the infection may involve any of the beta-lactamase producing organisms listed above; however, once these results become available, appropriate therapy should be continued. In serious infections, presumptive therapy with TAZOPIP for injection may be initiated before susceptibility test results are available. Combination therapy with TAZOPIP for injection and aminoglycosides may be used in the treatment of serious infections caused by Pseudomonas aeruginosa. Both drugs should be used in full therapeutic doses. As soon as results of culture and susceptibility tests become available, antimicrobial therapy should be adjusted.

Treatment of newly diagnosed glioblastoma multiforme concomitantly with radiotherapy and then as adjuvant treatment. Treatment of recurrence of anaplastic astrocytoma and glioblastoma multiforme following standard therapy. TEMIZOLE is also indicated as a first-line treatment for patients with advanced metastatic malignant melanoma.

Adjunctive therapy in the short term management of insomnia in adults.

TENOPT Ophthalmic Solution is indicated for the reduction of elevated intraocular pressure. In clinical trials it has been shown to reduce intraocular pressure in: Patients with ocular hypertension Patients with chronic open-angle glaucoma Aphakic patients with glaucoma

All grades of hypertension, including hypertension of renal origin. Frequent disabling angina without evidence of cardiac failure. Cardiac arrhythmias: Oral maintenance treatment following control with intravenous atenolol. Myocardial infarction: Oral treatment following initial intravenous treatment in early intervention (within 12 hours); oral treatment in those patients who present more than 12 hours after suffering an acute myocardial infarction.

Treatment of adults with complicated and uncomplicated urinary tract infections that are caused by susceptible strains of microorganisms. Treatment of adults with gastrointestinal infections, in particular shigellosis and traveller's diarrhoea.

Note: Specimens for culture and susceptibility testing should be obtained prior to and during treatment if clinical response warrants. Suppression, in adults, of chronic, recurrent urinary tract infection.

Tertroxin is indicated in the treatment of: coma due to myxoedema; management of severe thyroid deficiency; hypothyroid states arising in treatment of thyrotoxicosis. Tertroxin may be preferred for treating severe and acute hypothyroid states because of its rapid and more potent effect but thyroxine sodium is normally the drug of choice for routine replacement therapy. Tertroxin can also be used therapeutically in the treatment of thyrotoxicosis as an adjunct to carbimazole in order to prevent sub-clinical hypothyroidism developing during treatment.

To decrease the incidence of infection, as manifested by febrile neutropenia, in patients with nonmyeloid malignancies receiving myelosuppressive anticancer drugs in doses not usually requiring bone marrow transplantation.

To reduce the duration of neutropenia and clinical sequelae in patients undergoing induction and consolidation chemotherapy for acute myeloid leukaemia.

For the mobilisation of autologous peripheral blood progenitor cells alone, or following myelosuppressive chemotherapy, in order to accelerate neutrophil and platelet recovery by infusion of such cells after myeloablative or myelosuppressive therapy in patients with nonmyeloid malignancies.

For the mobilisation of peripheral blood progenitor cells, in normal volunteers, for use in allogeneic peripheral blood progenitor cell transplantation.

In patients receiving myeloablative chemotherapy, to reduce the duration of neutropenia and clinical sequelae following autologous or allogeneic bone marrow transplantation.

For chronic administration to increase neutrophil counts and to reduce the incidence and duration of infections in patients with severe chronic neutropenia.

In patients with HIV infection, for reversal of clinically significant neutropenia and subsequent maintenance of adequate neutrophil counts during treatment with antiviral and/or other myelosuppressive medications.

THIOTEPA has been tried with varying results in the palliation of a wide variety of neoplastic diseases. However, the most consistent results have been seen in the following tumours:

1. Adenocarcinoma of the breast.

2. Adenocarcinoma of the ovary.

3. For controlling intracavitary effusions secondary to diffuse or localized neoplastic diseases of various serosal cavities.

4. For the treatment of superficial papillary carcinoma of the urinary bladder.

While now largely superseded by other treatments, THIOTEPA has been effective against other lymphomas, such as lymphosarcoma and Hodgkin's disease. Complete response rates of 27% and 48% were obtained with a dose of 30 mg THIOTEPA in the treatment of bladder cancer.

TIMENTIN is used to treat a wide range of infections caused by bacteria. These infections may affect the blood, the chest, bones and joints, skin and the genito-urinary tract.

Inhibition of physiological lactation. Prevention of the onset of physiological lactation in the puerperium for clearly defined medical reasons. Treatment of hyperprolactinaemic disorders. Treatment of pathological hyperprolactinaemia.

TORVASTAT is indicated as an adjunct to diet for the treatment of patients with hypercholestolaemia.

Prior to initiating therapy with atorvastatin, secondary causes of hypercholesterolaemia (eg. poorly controlled diabetes mellitus, hypothyroidism, nephrotic syndrome, dysproteinaemias, obstructive liver disease, other drug therapy, and alcoholism) should be identified and treated.

TORVASTAT is indicated in hypertensive patients with multiple risk factors for coronary heart disease (CHD) which may include diabetes, history of stroke or other cerebrovascular disease, peripheral vascular disease or existing asymptomatic CHD to reduce the risk of non-fatal myocardial infarction and non-fatal stroke.

These effects do not replace the need to independantly control known causes of cardiovascular mortality and morbidity such as hypertension, diabetes, and smoking.

TRACRIUM is a highly selective, competitive or non-depolarising neuromuscular blocking agent which is used as an adjunct to general anaesthesia to enable tracheal intubation to be performed and to relax skeletal muscles during surgery or controlled ventilation, and to facilitate mechanical ventilation in Intensive Care Unit (ICU) patients.

Relief of moderate to severe pain.

Treatment of all grades of hypertension.

Prevention of chronic stable angina pectoris due to coronary artery disease.

For the treatment of mild to moderate hypertension. This combination should not be used to commence therapy.

In the treatment of the following dermatoses: atopic dermatitis, eczematous dermatitis, nummular eczema, contact dermatitis, anal and vulval pruritus, otitis externa, seborrhoeic dermatitis, eczematised psoriasis, neurodermatitis.

Triprim is indicated for the treatment of acute urinary tract infections caused by sensitive organisms.

• - Treatment of hypertension. Data are currently not available to support the use of Tritace in renovascular hypertension.
• - Post MI heart failure
• - Prevention of progressive renal failure in patients with persistent proteinuria in excess of 1 g/day.
• - For reducing the risk of myocardial infarction, stroke, cardiovascular death or the need for revascularisation procedures in patients 55 years of age or more who have clinical evidence of coronary artery disease, stroke, or peripheral vascular disease.
• - For reducing the risk of myocardial infarction, stroke, cardiovascular death or revascularisation procedures in diabetic patients 55 years or more with one or more of the following risk factors: systolic blood pressure >160mmHg or diastolic blood pressure >90mmHg (or on antihypertensive treatment); total cholesterol >5.2mmol/L; HDL cholesterol <0.9mmol/L; current smoker; known microalbuminuria; any evidence of previous vascular disease.
