KARLOR CD is indicated for the treatment of the following types of infections caused by susceptible organisms, in adults and children aged 12 years or older. Acute bronchitis and acute exacerbations of chronic bronchitis. Upper respiratory infections, including pharyngitis, tonsillitis and acute bacterial sinusitis. Community-acquired pneumonia of mild to moderate severity (excluding atypical pneumonia). Symptomatic lower urinary tract infections, including cystitis. Skin and skin structure infections. NOTE: 1. Penicillin is the usual drug of choice in the treatment and prevention of streptococcal infections, including the prophylaxis of rheumatic fever. KARLOR CD is generally effective in the eradication of streptococci from the oropharynx; however, substantial data establishing the efficacy of KARLOR CD in the subsequent prevention of rheumatic fever are not available. 2. Bacteriologic studies to determine the causative organism and its susceptibility to cefaclor should be performed. Therapy may be started while awaiting the results of these studies. Once these results become available, antimicrobial therapy should be adjusted accordingly.

Bacterial sinusitis caused by streptococci, S. pneumoniae and S. aureus (methicillin-sensitive only) Otitis media due to S. pneumoniae, staphylococci Skin and soft-tissue infections caused by staphylococci and/or streptococci Genitourinary tract infections, including acute prostatitis caused by E. coli, P. mirabilis, and Klebsiella sp. The effectiveness of KEFLEX in the treatment of bacterial infections of the brain and spinal column has not been established and KEFLEX is not indicated in these conditions. NOTE: Appropriate culture and susceptibility tests should be initiated prior to and during therapy to determine susceptibility of the causative organism to KEFLEX. Renal function studies should be performed when indicated.

Culture and susceptibility studies should be performed. Therapy may be instituted before results of susceptibility studies are obtained. Respiratory tract infections caused by S. pneumoniae, staphylococci (penicillinase and non-penicillinase-producing), group A beta-haemolytic streptococci, Klebsiella, and H. influenzae. Skin and soft-tissue infections, including peritonitis, caused by staphylococci (penicillinase and non-penicillinase-producing), group A beta-haemolytic streptococci, E. coli, Pr. mirabilis, and Klebsiella. Genito-urinary tract infections caused by E. coli, Pr. mirabilis and Klebsiella. Septicaemia, including endocarditis, caused by S. pneumoniae, staphylococci (penicillinase and non-penicillinase-producing), group A beta-haemolytic streptococci, S. viridans; E. coli, Pr. mirabilis, and Klebsiella. Bone and joint infections caused by staphylococci (penicillinase and non- penicillinase-producing). Prophylactically in vaginal hysterectomy, head and neck surgery, insertion of prosthetic heart valves, and prosthetic arthroplasty. Cefalotin is not recommended for G.I. procedures or other sites where anaerobic organisms such as bacteroides tend to prevail. Dosage is required pre-, intra- and post- operatively (i.e. perioperatively ). If signs of postoperative infection develop, specimens should be cultured to identify the causative organism so that appropriate therapy can be instituted. NOTE: If the susceptibility tests show that the causative organism is resistant to KEFLIN, other appropriate antibiotic therapy should be instituted.

Sponsor: Aspen Australia Please contact your doctor or healthcare professional if you have any questions about your medical condition or its treatment. Aspen does not provide medical advice to patients or consumers. For Aspen prescription products you will find information about your medicine in the Consumer Medicine Information sheet available on this website. Main Indication:
Short-term management of moderately severe, acute pain following surgical procedures. The total duration of ketorolac use should not exceed five days. It is recommended that parenteral ketorolac be used in the immediate postoperative period. Patients can then be converted to an oral formulation (dependent on their analgesic needs). See Dosage and Administration, Conversion from parenteral to oral therapy. The total period of treatment utilising the oral and/or intramuscular route of administration is not to exceed five days. General Ketoral is not recommended for use as an obstetric preoperative medication or for obstetric analgesia because it has not been adequately studied for use in these circumstances and because of the known effects of drugs that inhibit prostaglandin biosynthesis on uterine contraction and fetal circulation. There is no satisfactory evidence for the use of Ketoral in acute exacerbations of chronic painful inflammatory conditions (e.g. rheumatoid arthritis or osteoarthritis).

For Aspen prescription products you will find information about your medicine in the Consumer Medicine Information sheet available on this website. Main Indication:
Klacid (clarithromycin) is indicated for use in adults and children older than 12 years for the treatment of mild to moderately severe infections caused by susceptible strains of the designated microorganisms in the conditions listed below: 1. Acute streptococcal pharyngitis; 2. Community acquired pneumonia due to Chlamydia pneumoniae, Mycoplasma pneumoniae, Legionella pneumophila and Streptococcus pneumoniae; 3. Uncomplicated skin and skin structure infections due to Staphylococcus aureus or Streptococcus pyogenes; 4. Disseminated or localised mycobacterial infections due to Mycobacterium avium or Mycobacterium intracellulare and skin and skin structure infections due to Mycobacterium chelonae. Clarithromycin should be used in combination with other antimycobacterial agents. 5. Prevention of disseminated Mycobacterium avium complex infection in HIV-infected adults with CD4 lymphocyte counts <75 cells/mm3 (See PRECAUTIONS). Disseminated infection due to Mycobacterium avium complex should be excluded by a negative blood culture prior to commencement of prophylaxis. 6. Acute bacterial exacerbation of chronic bronchitis due to Haemophilus influenzae, Moraxella catarrhalis or Streptococcus pneumoniae; 7. Combination therapy for the treatment of peptic ulcer disease associated with Helicobacter pylori infection. Klacid (clarithromycin) is indicated for use in children for the treatment of mild to moderately severe infections caused by susceptible strains of the designated microorganisms in the conditions listed below: 1. Acute streptococcal pharyngitis and tonsillitis caused by Streptococcus pyogenes; 2. Community acquired pneumonia including infections due to Chlamydia pneumoniae, Mycoplasma pneumoniae and Legionella pneumophila; 3. Skin and skin structure infections (eg impetigo); 4. Disseminated or localised infections due to Mycobacterium avium or Mycobacterium intracellulare in immunocompromised children, including those with HIV Infection or AIDS. 5. Acute otitis media. NOTE: 1. Penicillins are the drug of first choice in the treatment of acute otitis media. 2. Penicillin is the usual drug of choice in the treatment and prevention of streptococcal infections including prophylaxis of rheumatic fever. Clarithromycin appears to be as effective as phenoxymethylpenicillin in the eradication of streptococci from the nasopharynx, however substantial data establishing the efficacy of clarithromycin in the subsequent prevention of rheumatic fever are not available at present.3. There is insufficient evidence of efficacy to support the use of Klacid in acute bronchitis in young children. 4. The data presented on infections of skin and skin structure were confined largely to mild to moderate infections such as impetigo.
